Why marry in the Peak District?
The Peak District gives you gritstone edges, limestone dales, heather moorland and stone villages, all in Britain’s first national park. It is also one of the most central places in the country, so guests from Manchester, Birmingham, Sheffield, Leeds and beyond can reach it in a couple of hours. Hiring a whole venue here means a proper countryside weekend without a long journey.
We have five venues in the Peak District & Midlands, including Toft Estate in Leek, Hamps Hall & Barn in Stoke-on-Trent and Kington Lodge in Kington.
Halls, estates and barns
Our venues here range from historic halls and private estates to converted barns, many on the Staffordshire edge of the Peak District. Several have grounds for drinks and photos with moorland views, and some combine a main house with a barn, giving separate spaces for the ceremony, the dinner and the dancing. Our team knows these venues well and can help you choose.
What exclusive use includes
Exclusive use means the house, its bedrooms and its grounds are booked only for your wedding party. That usually covers the reception rooms, the kitchen and dining space, gardens and terraces, and extras such as hot tubs or games rooms where the venue has them.
How many guests can stay?
Our venues here sleep between 16 and 48 people, and four of them sleep 30 or more. That usually covers the wedding party and close family, with other guests in nearby inns, hotels and holiday cottages. Use the Sleeps filter above to see the venues big enough for your group.
Getting there
The M6 and M1 run either side of the Peak District, and trains reach Stoke-on-Trent, Macclesfield, Sheffield and Manchester. Manchester and East Midlands airports are within easy reach for guests flying in. Country lanes can be narrow, so a minibus or taxis for the evening make the night easier.
Food, drink and things to do
The Peak District and Staffordshire are rich in local food and drink, from Staffordshire oatcakes and Bakewell puddings to local cheeses, game and craft ales. Caterers here are used to hearty, seasonal wedding menus, and many venues are within reach of farm shops and breweries for welcome hampers and the bar. Guests staying for the weekend can walk the Roaches and the dales, visit Chatsworth or Alton Towers, or explore market towns such as Leek, Buxton and Bakewell.
Planning your wedding weekend
Most couples book their venue from Friday to Sunday. Friday is for arriving, unpacking and a relaxed welcome dinner or barbecue with the people staying. Saturday is the wedding itself, with time in the morning for hair and make-up without anyone having to travel. Sunday brings a slow breakfast or brunch, a walk, perhaps a dip in the hot tub, and the chance to relive the day together before everyone heads home.
Having everyone under one roof also makes the practical side simpler: suppliers know where to come, the wedding party is never far away, and there is no rush to leave at the end of the night. Our team can help you plan the timings and point you to suppliers who know the venue.
Choosing the right venue
Start with numbers: how many guests need a bed, and how many will join for the day. Then think about the setting you want – a grand house with formal rooms, an estate with grounds for drinks and photos, or a barn for a relaxed party – and how far your guests will be travelling. Our team knows the venues in the Peak District and Staffordshire well and can help you shortlist two or three to visit before you book.
When to book
Summer weekends are the busiest, so allow 12 to 24 months for peak dates. The Peak District is beautiful in every season – spring lambs, summer heather, autumn colour and frosty winter mornings – and off-peak dates are easier to find. Enter your dates above to see which venues are free.
