Why choose a unique venue?
Not every couple wants a classic country house. A unique venue gives your wedding a story of its own, whether that is an unusual building, a striking design or a setting your guests will not have seen before. Because you hire it exclusively, the whole place is yours for the weekend, so the celebration can be as personal as you like.
We have two unique venues in this collection, including Sky Tower in Leiston and Daffodil Chapel in Upwell, and we are always looking for more.
What makes a venue unique?
Our unique venues are the ones that do not fit neatly into a category: converted buildings with an unusual past, modern architect-designed homes, or properties with a feature you will not find anywhere else. What they share is character – and the same exclusive use as every venue on our site, with no other guests and no shared spaces.
What exclusive use includes
Exclusive use means the venue, its bedrooms and its grounds are booked only for you. That usually includes the kitchen, dining and living spaces, the outdoor areas and any special features the property has. You decide how the weekend runs, from the welcome drinks to the last dance.
How many guests can stay?
Our unique venues sleep between 14 and 20 people. They often suit smaller, more personal weddings, where the people closest to you stay together. Extra guests can sometimes join for the day – our team will confirm the limits and any house rules.
Planning a wedding at an unusual venue
Unusual venues can need a little more planning. Check how suppliers will reach the property, where a caterer can work, and whether the space suits the ceremony, dinner and dancing you have in mind. Think about access for older guests too. A visit before you book is the best way to picture the day, and our team can help with the practical questions.
Making the most of an unusual space
The best weddings at unique venues lean into what makes the place special. If the building has a story, share it in your invitations or order of the day; if there is a striking room or view, plan the ceremony or the first dance around it. Keep decorations simple so the architecture does the talking, and brief your photographer on the spots you love when you visit. Guests remember a wedding that feels unlike any other, and a one-of-a-kind venue gives you that from the moment they arrive.
Planning your wedding weekend
Most couples book their venue from Friday to Sunday. Friday is for arriving, unpacking and a relaxed welcome dinner or barbecue with the people staying. Saturday is the wedding itself, with time in the morning for hair and make-up without anyone having to travel. Sunday brings a slow breakfast or brunch, a walk, perhaps a dip in the hot tub, and the chance to relive the day together before everyone heads home.
Having everyone under one roof also makes the practical side simpler: suppliers know where to come, the wedding party is never far away, and there is no rush to leave at the end of the night. Our team can help you plan the timings and point you to suppliers who know the venue.
Costs and when to book
Prices depend on the venue, the season, the day of the week and how many nights you stay. Because unique venues are one of a kind, popular weekends go quickly, so it pays to enquire early. Enter your dates above to see what is free, then send us an enquiry and we will check the details with the owner.
